Sara Östman is an illustrator, graphic designer and new resident of Helsinki, originally from Nykarleby. Sara has previously illustrated for magazines, made book covers and generally enjoys incorporating hand-drawn elements into her designs.
This year's illustration is created with a mix of digital drawing and oil crayon drawing. The motif is a pattern of partially abstract color fields that resemble doors or shutters ajar, as well as a checkerboard pattern - which can be likened to a route in a board game. The different shades represent the variation of everything that can be found within them. The complementary illustrations are a mix of different colors and shapes that symbolize different art experiences and encounters along the way.
